Small goal as a multifunctional tool – loved by young and old!
A small soccer goal is versatile and often outshines large soccer goals. At least in training, small goals are becoming more and more popular. For the trainers, the flexible application options in particular offer a great advantage. Due to their light weight and excellent transport properties, the small goals can be moved around the sports field quickly and easily. The wide variety of training situations can thus be realized in the shortest possible time and in the smallest possible space. For the children, a small soccer goal has another decisive advantage: the net! In contrast to little hats, which often replace the goalposts during training, the ball also zapps in the net with mini goals. So the score really feels like a score.
Small soccer goal optimizes soccer training
Small soccer goals are suitable not only for children. The training sessions of the senior age groups are as well enriched by the soccer goals in small sizes. Aiming at small goals trains precise kicking and accurate passing in confined spaces. Small goals are used for training mostly without a goalkeeper. This leads to an ambitious duel with a great chance to score. Scoring goals is not to be neglected as a motivation factor. Depending on which training goal is to be achieved, the players and the playing field must be arranged differently. The DFB gives some recommendations, for the optimal use of small goals in soccer training. The Offenbacher Kickers performance center also started training with four small goals this summer. According to the performance center, playing on small goals represents an “improvement in training conditions” (cf. OFC Performance Center, 2022). The four fully welded small goals in 1.80 x 1.20 m from our production are used daily and provide varied training situations.
Children’s soccer also relies on small soccer goals
Recently, the new forms of the game have been gradually rolled out in children’s soccer. Especially in the F- and G-youth, so-called festivals are played on several fields on up to four small goals on each field. Teams compete in 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3 or 5 vs. 5 depending on respective age groups. For each constellation there are defined field dimensions, goal sizes and number of goals. A small soccer goal in children’s soccer measures a maximum of 2.00 x 1.20 m. The purpose of the new playing methods is to promote a greater sense of achievement. Children should have fun playing soccer and not focus exclusively on the final result. Regardless of one’ s level of training, everyone has the chance to get the ball at his or her feet and score goals. In addition, the game is also played on small goals without a goalkeeper.
Small soccer goal provides physical activity in older age: Walking Football
The trending sport of walking football, also known as “Geh-Fußball” in Germany, is aimed specifically at people over the age of 50. A small soccer goal is also used in this age group. The ideal goal size for walking football has turned out to be 3.00 x 1.00 m. The game is also played without a goalkeeper. As the name already suggests, walking football is played by walking. Running is explicitly prohibited. Balls over waist height and hard body contact or fouls are also forbidden. In contrast, the number of people and the size of the playing field can be handled flexibly. The purpose is to promote physical activity and social contact in older ages.
