CBES in Lollar expands schoolyard with soccer cage
For almost two weeks now, soccer has been played in the soccer cage in the schoolyard of the cooperative comprehensive school in Lollar. The newly created space offers many opportunities for fun and exercise outside. Since the cage is equipped with two basketball hoops in addition to two recreational goals, basketball can also be played on the pitch. During implementation and financing, CBES Lollar received support from the city of Giessen and the Federal Ministry of Construction, among others. The “Integration Pact Social Integration in the Neighborhood” funding program has created new places for education and exercise. As a social infrastructure facility, the soccer cage met all the requirements to receive financial support.
We are happy that we could be part of the project and create a new playing field on the school grounds with our Soccer Court.
Soccer court against balls flying around
The soccer cage, also called soccer court, basically consists of a perimeter playing field and two recreational goals. In most cases, the barrier is additionally extended by a ball stop net, which also runs around the perimeter. This creates a protection of about 3 meters in height, which sufficiently protects the surrounding area from flying balls. Soccer Courts are available in standard dimensions of 15x10m, 20x13m, 30x15m or 40x20m. In most cases, the available space at the chosen location determines the size of the playing field. However, one of the four standard sizes does not always correspond to the conditions on site. In order to make the best possible use of the available space, we, as a manufacturer of soccer cages, also offer different court sizes. artec© Soccer Courts are therefore available in many different sizes – depending on the customer’s requirements. We design and manufacture every single court individually at our production site in Melle.
Custom made for Lollar
Deviating court size – 24x15m
In Lollar, as well, a special construction made it possible to make optimal use of the space intended for the soccer cage. The playing field barrier made of robust sandwich hard foam panels with steel sheet sheathing in the schoolyard is now 24 meters long and 15 meters wide. That’s an appropriate proportion of sides for a court where soccer is predominantly played. With 360 m² ground area, the mini playing field also has a sufficient size. Even though the dimensions of soccer courts are basically free to choose, we naturally take such factors into account during construction. The side ratio, ground area, and goal size are one of the limiting factors for Soccer Courts when it comes to custom designs. Thanks to many years of experience, we are often able to provide our customers helpful hints and tips.
Soccer cage provides protection against vandalism
Standard surrounding ball stop nets keep the balls in the Soccer Court. Particularly in public places, such as schoolyards, vandalism occurs from time to time. Unfortunately, even soccer courts are not unaffected and cut nets are not uncommon. On the campus of the CBES, we have therefore equipped the soccer court with a ball fence. Circumferential double rod mats with a height of 2.00 m are a robust alternative to the standard net for ball catching. In combination with the 1.00 m high court barrier, our Soccer Court offers a 3.00 m high protection against out-flying balls. Behind the recreational goals, we have installed extra-high fencing elements to create a 4.00 m high safety zone. Because of its fence, the Soccer Court in Lollar is visually reminiscent of a cage, which is why the term “soccer cage” is very appropriate here.
Integrated service door
As another special feature, the new Soccer Court comes with a service door. The double-winged door allows to maintain the covering with the appropriate grooming equipment. This allows the new synthetic surface in Lollar to be maintained properly. The door is integrated in the court border making it not a risk for injuries and accidents.
Basketball in the soccer cage – with artec it’s possible!
The soccer court for CBES pupils is equipped with two special recreational goals. To ensure that not only soccer-loving children can use the new playing field, the goals are equipped with a basketball attachment. This means that there is a backboard with hoop and net on top of the actual goal. Due to this construction, the soccer cage additionally serves as a basketball cage. The recreational goals with basketball attachment are also available without the soccer court. Besides, we produce the goals in different designs. Handicap free access to the playing field
You can access the soccer cage through the recreational goals. Pupils can easily enter the cage through the integrated door on the side of the soccer goal. The door is locked so that a fully functional goal remains. At this point we install a particularly flat special ground frame at the recreational goal. This allows us to ensure barrier-free access to the soccer court, even with a wheelchair. This is standard at our Soccer Courts.
